Trail Guide Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Trail Guide is a Chrome extension that displays communication guidance in the Gmail compose window based on who the message is addressed to.
Data we collect
Trail Guide does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All information the extension uses — your sender profile and any per-recipient notes you create — is stored locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser and is never sent to Trail Guide, IFI Training, or any third party.
Permissions
storage— used to save your communication profile and per-recipient notes locally so they persist between browser sessions.- Host permission for
mail.google.com— used to read the recipient of the email you’re currently composing, so Trail Guide can display a relevant suggestion. Trail Guide only runs on Gmail and does not access any other site.
Third parties
Trail Guide makes no external network requests. It does not use any remote code, analytics, or third-party services. Brand fonts used in the extension’s interface are bundled locally, not loaded from an external source.
Data sale and use
We do not sell, rent, or transfer any user data to third parties. We do not use any data collected by this extension for purposes unrelated to its single stated function, and we do not use it for creditworthiness or lending decisions.
Changes to this policy
If Trail Guide’s data practices change in the future — for example, if a future paid tier introduces server-side processing — this policy will be updated accordingly before that change ships, and the updated policy will be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing.
